Distillery
Knockando is a Scottish distillery located in the Speyside region, near the River Spey. It was founded in 1898 by John Thomson during the whiskey boom of the late 19th century. The name "Knockando" comes from the Gaelic term Cnockan Dhu, meaning "little black hill".
Knockando is known for its smooth, slightly nutty and malty whisky, making it ideal for both blended and single malts whiskey. For a long time it was used as a key component for blended whiskies, especially for J&B Rare (Justerini & Brooks). Although a large part of the production goes into blended whisky, there are also own bottlings where Knockando presents the year of distillation (vintage).
Today Knockando is part of the Diageo company and its single malt whiskey is valued among connoisseurs for its lightness, freshness and versatility.
