On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the artist's creative work, in November 1981, an exhibition was held at the BWA in Katowice, entitled. "Jan Dutkiewicz and Students." The main theme of his paintings was landscapes reflecting the atmosphere of mining Silesia. In the 1960s, trips to Bulgaria and Albania resulted in a series of landscapes and genre scenes there. Sensitive to color, the artist expanded his color palette in these paintings. He achieved depth, spatiality and mood, referring to his youthful fascination with Post-Impressionism.
