Andrzej Klimowski is a London-born painter, graphic artist, illustrator, author of graphic novels and animated films, one of the most important creators of Polish and British posters. He comes from a family of Polish emigrants and has maintained strong ties to Poland throughout his life. He studied painting and sculpture at St. Martin's School of Art in London, and then poster design and animated film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, including under Henryk Tomaszewski and Kazimierz Urbański. From 1973 to 1980, he lived and worked in Warsaw, designing theater and film posters that quickly brought him recognition. After returning to London, he began teaching - he taught graphic design and design at Canterbury and West Surrey, and since 1984 has been affiliated with the Royal College of Art, where he served as head of the Visual Communication program and was awarded a professorship. His work includes posters, book covers, newspaper illustrations, graphic novels and films.
