Chateau Quintus is the latest addition to Domaine Clarence Dillon's impressive portfolio. It aims to showcase the unique character of the St-Emilion appellation. Wines are created here with great care and using all the experience of the owners, who also manage the famous chateaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. The owners' ambitions are sure to take Quintus to the group of the appellation's top producers.
2016 went well practically everywhere. In this part of the region, it started cool and rainy, but this did not disrupt the flowering at all. The summer was very sunny and mostly dry, and the autumn rain proved to be a savior for the vines. The perfect conditions later, with no rain and cool nights, allowed for a calm, unhurried harvest of perfectly ripe fruit.
Quintus in this vintage is juicy and full of life, with good energy and a smooth, soft body. Lots of fruit with good concentration, from behind which more and more elegant, dry notes slowly emerge. Definitely with potential for the next decade.
70% merlot, 30% cabernet franc.
