Juliusz "Dead" Lewandowski's paintings are often politically engaged portraits of contemporary Poland. Such motifs as national identity or the power of ideology run through them. Sometimes actual events will appear in them - protests, marches, demonstrations. All in a characteristic style reminiscent of Flemish painting of the 15th and 16th centuries.
