Maliszewski 1304. No half-title page; the title page has a handwritten inscription pasted over it; otherwise, in very good condition. Covers the period from November 24, 1827, to April 4, 1828. A diary written by a colleague of Mickiewicz’s from the University of Vilnius, a member of the Filaret Society. In his introduction, Kridl writes: “First and foremost, Mickiewicz. During the poet’s one-and-a-half-month stay in St. Petersburg […], Malinowski met with him almost every day and tried to record nearly every step he took and every word he spoke. We thus gain a first-rate and authentic source for learning about Mickiewicz’s stay in St. Petersburg at that time [...]. In addition to Mickiewicz, we find many details about the painter Aleksander Orłowski, including his numerous sketches, drawings, and watercolors [...]. These notes can be extremely helpful in searching for Orłowski’s works and determining their authenticity.”
