Paweł Pierściński - Photographer, publicist, critic and theoretician of photography, social activist, organizer of the Polish landscape photographic movement, commissioner of national exhibitions of landscape photography. Creator and animator of the Kielce School of Landscape(artistic direction preferring a broad and simple look at the landscape, analysis of its structure). Graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology (1962). He became interested in photography in the early 1950s. Since 1967 he has been a freelance photographer. Member of ZPAF, founder and creator of the Swietokrzyskie District of ZPAF. Author of more than 250 individual exhibitions, participant in more than 600 collective Polish and international presentations. Winner of numerous medals and awards. Published a dozeni ndividual photo albums (including Struktury, Między Wisłą a Pilica, Staropolski Okręg Przemysłowy). Editor and co-author of, among others: the almanac Mistrzowie polskiego pejzażu (2000) and Kielce School of Landscape (2002).Author of many texts, critical studies, reviews and texts for exhibition catalogs. In 2004 was published an anthology of Time of Landscape, containing his authorial texts published in the years1975-2004.For his photographic work and social activities, he received, among others, the Officer's Cross and Knight's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland, Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis and honorary awards of the International Federation of Photographic Art: AFIAP, EFIP and ESFIAP. Paweł Pierściński has been invariably photographing the beauty of the landscape of the Kielce region for several decades. He constantly finds new inspirations in it. He captures the perceived harmony of proportions, rhythms, geometry, contrasts built as if by unearthly light. The photos are imbued with emotion and feeling - a deep attachment to the Świętokrzyskie land. He creates landscapes on the model of ideal forms shaped by the forces of nature - he arranges them in collage patterns, rhythmic structures, creating peculiar mathematical-geometric models and compositions. "The landscape of my art is built on the pattern and likeness of the Świętokrzyskie landscape. In it, the form and shape, as well as the variation in value of the plots, create a characteristic checkerboard pattern, in which the fine pattern of the fields is inscribed in the vast spaces of the landscape." Observing the changing light, time of day, or time of year, he captures views full of nostalgia and atmosphere characteristic of the Polish open air. These peculiar "portraits" of Kielce Land by Pawel Pierściński have been recorded for more than 50 years. Some of the images are maintained in a realistic manner, others are more surreal or even fairy-tale-like. In the captured faithful views of nature, or those processed - collage or photomontage images, we find the pleasure of contemplating space and purely plastic forms, shapes and structures.
