ink on paper, before 1901, 29 x 22 cm, signed in lower right corner: "Pankiewicz".
The work was created in Gliniak near Minsk Mazowiecki, where Pankiewicz stayed with his mother. Jadwiga Dmochowska, daughter from Pankiewicz's wife's first marriage, recalls the place as follows: "A lone birch tree, in which [...] all of Poland was enchanted, was particularly sentimental." Based on the presented drawing, a graphic was also created in etching and dry needle technique.
Graphic described in the catalog of the monographic exhibition "Józef Pankiewicz. Life and Work", National Museum in Warsaw, 2006, p. 294, item 31.
Provenance: collection of Teresa née Łabęcka, wife of Feliks Manggha Jasieński.
