Józef Rapacki (1871–1929) —painter, printmaker, and draftsman, one of the leading Warsaw landscape artists at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. He studied at Wojciech Gerson’s Drawing School, the Kraków School of Fine Arts, and in Friedrich Fehr’s private studio in Munich. In painting, he specialized in atmospheric landscapes—particularly those of Mazovia—and genre scenes. A significant part of his body of work consists of graphic art—he created autolithographs, etchings, and lithographs, depicting landscapes, genre scenes, and characteristic street scenes of Warsaw. His prints were often created as standalone compositions, as well as illustrations published in newspapers and other publications.
