Biography
Matthäus Merian was an engraver and publisher in Frankfurt am Main from 1627, then the company in the hands of his heirs operated until the 1630s. The first edition of Neuwe archontologia cosmica in 1638 contained more than 90 copperplate engravings with maps and city views.
