Biography
She graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where she received her diploma in 1972. In her printmaking, she most often uses metal-based printmaking techniques (etching, aquatint, and drypoint); she also practices lithography. In 1985, she led printmaking workshops at the Academy of Fine Arts in Reykjavík. From 1986 to 1990, she directed the Stu Theater Gallery in Kraków. Her body of work includes solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and she has participated in dozens of group graphic art exhibitions. In 1995, she won the Grand Prix—“The Masters of Graphic Art”—at the 3rd International Graphic Arts Biennial in Győr, Hungary. In 2009, she was honored with the W. Wojtkiewicz Award of the Association of Polish Visual Artists for her exhibition at the Jan Fejkiel Gallery titled *Siedzące*. A Conversation with S.W.
To date, the artist has had five solo exhibitions at the Jan Fejkiel Gallery. She has also participated in group exhibitions organized by the gallery, including: “Stone, Metal, Wood, Computer,” Cracow Expo Center 1994; “Element and Method,” Galerie de la C.G.E.R., Liège, 1996; Manggha Center, Kraków, 1997; Polish Graphic Artists – French Poets, Galerie des Franciscains, St. Nazaire, 1995, 1999; Mondo Cane, JFG, Kraków 2001, BWA, Kielce 2002; Beyond the Passe-Partout: A New Space for Printmaking, JFG, Kraków 2006; Visible / Invisible, Turchin Center for Visual Arts, Boone, NC, USA, 2012–13.
