Biography
In 1948, he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he studied painting and set design intermittently. He received his diploma in 1957. He also studied ethnography and art history at Jagiellonian University. In 1957, he revived the “Krakow Group.” He participated in the Second Exhibition of Modern Art in Warsaw in 1957 and in the Symposium of Artists and Scientists in Puławy in 1966. He was also the initiator of the seminar series “Art—Religion—Science,” organized with the support of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków from 1983 to 1989. The artist’s exhibition debut took place in 1956 at the Kraków Artists’ House, during the intermission of a performance of Witkacy’s *Mątwa* staged by the Cricot 2 Theater. Subsequent solo exhibitions took place, among others, at the Zabriskie Gallery in New York (1961), the Galleria L’Obelisco in Rome (1964), the Bonino Gallery in New York (1973), the Pi Gallery in Kraków in Kraków (1974), the Pawilon Gallery in Kraków (1975, 1976), the 72 Gallery in Chełm (1977), and the Starmach Gallery in Kraków (1996, 2002).
