Tempera lasered on silver, board, 45 x 37.5 cm, Russia, Vetkov school, 19th century Deesis is one of the most important representations placed in iconostasis. The central scene features the figure of Christ Pantocrator as the Salvator Mundi, with an open gospel in his hand. To the right is the crowned Mother of God, holding an unrolled scroll with the text of a prayer, and to the left is John the Baptist wearing a crown. Behind the throne are placed the Archangels Michael on the right and Gabriel on the left.
