Three Trees is one of Rembrandt's most famous and highly regarded landscape compositions. The original matrix was created in 1643 and is considered the artist's pinnacle achievement in landscape printmaking. The work is characterized by unusual dynamics - it depicts the moment of an approaching storm, with dramatic lines of rain on the left and an intricate play of chiaroscuro in the sky.
