The badge shown in the photo is the 1938 Gautag 10 Year Westfalen Tinnie, a commemorative badge from the NSDAP (National Socialist German Workers' Party) party rally. Gau badges (Gau-Abzeichen) were political awards issued by various Gauleiters (district leaders) of the Nazi Party to commemorate events or in recognition of loyal service. They were not considered state awards, but party awards, and the rules for awarding them were determined by the individual Gauleiters. The badge commemorates a specific event that took place in 1938 in Gautag Westfalen.
