Ludovico Mazzolino (Ferrara 1480 ca.-Ferrara 1528), Christ and the adulteress

Oil on panel Panel cm. 19,5x24. Framed The painting bears two old labels on the back with inventory numbers: "T. 52" and "N. 272 (...)". It also bears the label "MOSTRA DI ARTE ANTICA / MUNICIPIO DI FERRARA / PALAZZO DEI DIAMANTI".

The label made it possible to identify the painting with the one exhibited in the historic exhibition "Mostra di opere d'arte antica delle raccolte private ferraresi" held in Palazzo dei Diamanti between August and September 1949. The work was published in the printed catalogue under no. 16, accompanied by the b/w reproduction, with information on measurements and provenance from the collection of Ubaldo Masotti.
