Very nice and rare medallion of Julia Domna with a unique representation of the god Men Karou on the reverse. Between the Phrygian Laodicea and the so-called by the "Phrygian Gate", in the valley where the rivers Lycus and Meander meet, there was a world famous temple, a place of worship of the god Men Karou. He was the ancient, original god of this valley. His temple was the local religious center, but also the main place in this region where social, administrative and commercial matters were dealt with. Everything that happened in the area of the temple was, as it were, under the watchful eye of this god, and the rules of righteous conduct were protected by his holy name. There, the inhabitants of the valley met to handle all their affairs fairly and reliably and to do business with each other and with visiting pilgrims. This convention / market / market took place every week in the same place, back in the first half of the 20th century. Then it was transferred a few kilometers north to the new Turkish settlement of Serai Keui, where it is still held today.
