Joanna Sierko-Filipowska was born in 1985. She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the workshop of Prof. Halina Chrostowska and the painting studio of Prof. Jerzy Tchórzewski. In 1986 she received a creative scholarship awarded by the Minister of Culture and Art.
The artist's paintings seem closer in climate and content to the 19th century art of the Symbolists, Post-Romantics, or Art Nouveau than to the art of our time. Her paintings are extremely poetic, metaphysical, literary. The artist has held more than a dozen solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions at home and abroad.
