Biography
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, in the Department of Painting under Prof. Czesław Rzepiński and in the Department of Set Design under Prof. Andrzej Stopka. He received his diploma in 1963. From the very beginning of his artistic career, he has simultaneously practiced easel painting, printmaking, and set design. He is currently a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. He paints mainly in series ranging from a few to a dozen or so paintings—examples of titles include “Stalls,” “Mannequins,” “Fears and Specters,” “Whispers,” “Artifacts,” “Masquerades,” “Scores,” “The Only Way Out,” “From the Sketchbook,” “Mr. Cogito,” “Darkness,” “Longings,” “Trophies at the End of the Century,” “Afterimages of the Age of Men,” “Signs of the Times,” and “Arenas and Paper Birds.” He has had approximately 96 solo exhibitions and participated in 160 group exhibitions. Allan Rzepka’s works are held, among others, in the collections of Wawel, Collegium Maius, the National Museum in Kraków, the Ministry of Culture, the Carmelite Order, the TPSP Collections in Kraków, and in museums in Bytom, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Olsztyn, Zamość, and Rzeszów, as well as in private collections in Poland, Germany, Austria, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada. the U.S., Australia, and the Ivory Coast.
