Krzysztof Witold Skórczewski (b. Kraków, 1947) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1965–1971) and at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm (1976). He is a member of the International Woodcut Artists’ Association XYLON in Switzerland and the Club of Laureates of the International Print Biennial in Kraków. From 1975 to 1978, he lived in Stockholm, after which he returned to Kraków. In his works—usually small in format—he evokes dreamlike images. They have an all the more powerful effect on the viewer’s imagination because they are executed with unparalleled technical mastery. The artist won awards at the 4th and 11th International Print Biennales in Kraków in 1972 and 1986, the Albertina Friends Society Award in Vienna in 1972, first prize at the 2nd International Print Festival in Menton in 1989, and many others. He practices traditional printmaking (linocut from 1971 to 1976; since 1976, mainly copperplate engraving) and applied art, as well as drawing and painting.
