This impressive pair of corner cabinets (Eckaufsatzschränke) reflects the 19th-century revival of high Baroque furniture design. The structures are crafted from walnut-veneered softwood, featuring elaborate marquetry in plum and maple woods. This inlay work is executed in sophisticated panel and ribbon-work patterns, characteristic of the ornate decorative traditions of the 18th century.
The upper displays are set behind two shaped, glazed doors, crowned by prominent, raised profile cornices that mirror the curved lines of the base. The lower cabinets consist of a single solid door with central marquetry panels and are supported by elegant, curved feet. With their grand scale and intricate woodcraft, these cabinets were designed to serve as both functional storage and significant architectural focal points in a refined interior.
