Biography
Brother of Wandalin and Antoni Jan, who were also painters. He exhibited at the Zachęta in Warsaw from 1865 to 1898, primarily religious paintings and sketches of historic architecture; he was the designer (?) the ceiling for the Grand Theater and a series of illustrations for Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Trilogy. He contributed to the magazines *Tygodnik Ilustrowany* and *Życie i Sztuka*. Works by this artist are extremely rare on the antique art market.
