Biography
The artist’s development was influenced by numerous travels, including to England, Spain, France, and Italy, as well as to India, Australia, New Zealand, and North Africa. He studied in Munich and at the Paris School of Fine Arts under Jean-Paul Laurens. In 1911, he settled permanently in Paris, becoming a prominent figure in the Polish artistic community on the Seine. The artist’s works enjoyed considerable success at the time. They were displayed at numerous solo exhibitions, primarily at the prestigious Galerie Bernheim-Jeune in Paris, as well as in group shows in France, Italy, Belgium, and Poland. Terlikowski’s paintings are characterized by strong, saturated colors and a thick texture applied with a palette knife. He painted landscapes, portraits, and still lifes, which predominate in his body of work. The artist’s works are found in numerous public collections in France.
