Studied 1980-1985 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studios of Jacek Sienicki and Zbigniew Gostomski. After graduation, he began teaching at his alma mater. In 1987 he won two honorable mentions at the 13th Jan Spychalski National Painting Competition in Poznan. He participated in the collective shows "Arsenal 88" and "Red & White" at the Gwardia Hall in Warsaw, winning an honorary award at the former. The sweeping, energetic brushstrokes and screaming colors of his early canvases make us situate his painting at the time in the fashionable 1980s trend of new expression. By the end of the decade, however, the artist had already radically changed his style and subject matter. He began creating monumental figural paintings, with usually solitary, headless, nude silhouettes emerging in canonical shots from a dark, texturally resolved background. In his later works, the artist expressed his adoration of nature, drawing from it themes for his painting. One can see his admiration for the millions of shades of gray of the autumn-winter landscape or the changes of light occurring throughout the day on meadows, trees or water.
