The featured painting comes from the mature period of Jerzy Nowosielski's work. The work clearly shows features typical of the artist's painting: narrow framing of space, flat forms, narrowing of the color palette, limited to black, brown and their derivatives.
Behind the scenes is a great example of the already mature work of the painter, who, based on the canon he has developed, conveys his own perception of art to viewers. The artist invites the viewer to discover the mystery together. Nude and woman are the main motifs of Jerzy Nowosielski's work. Women appear in the painter's works in various poses and arrangements, often repeated many times, but each time revealing a different aspect of femininity. Their elongated, slender bodies are strongly outlined, while their warm skin tone and dark almond-shaped eyes, along with their silhouettes, bring to mind iconography - evidence of Nowosielski's fascination with Eastern liturgy.
Jerzy Nowosielski was the recipient of many awards, including the Second (1962) and First Degree (1973, 1981, 1997) Prizes of the Minister of Culture and Art, the Wladyslaw Pietrzak Award (1967), the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1981) or the Second Degree Medal of St. Mary Magdalene (1985) - the highest award of the Orthodox Church in Poland; he also represented Poland at the Venice Biennale (1956) and the São Paulo Biennale (1959).
