S. Maliszewski came from a family of artists, and was a painter well known in Belarusian artistic circles. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Minsk, where he studied under Vladimir Stelmashonok. He belonged to the association "Pluralis" (1988-1991), the painting section of the Union of Artists of Belarus (since 1990), the International Guild of Painters and the creative association "Artel" (since 2004).
Malishevsky's paintings are distinguished by complex forms, and it is worth noting the enormous amount of detail in his paintings. At the beginning of his artistic path, he admitted to a fascination with the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch and Salvador; critics also see in his works inspiration from the works of Pieter Bruegel the Elder and Max Ernst and Salvador Dali. As a mature painter, he emphasized his own distinct style. His paintings are closest to surrealism and magical realism, while symbolic content, references to mythology or religious motifs also appear in them.
Sergei Malishevsky died on February 19, 2020. He left behind a number of paintings, which are in public and private collections around the world.
