Biography
He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, receiving his diploma in 1971 from the studio of Prof. Krystyna Łada-Studnicka. From 1972 to 1985, he was a lecturer at his alma mater. In 1981 and 1983, he was a fellow at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam; from 1985 to 1986, he undertook a study residency at the Atelierhaus. He spent the years 1990–91 at the Musée d’Art Contemporain in Nîmes. In 1999, he received the Jan Cybis Award for his artistic achievements. His works have been exhibited numerous times both in Poland and abroad and have been featured in prestigious international art exhibitions: the Painting Festivals in Cagnes-sur-Mer (1982, 1984), the São Paulo Biennial (1987, 1994), and Documenta in Kassel (1992). His works are included in the collections of the National Museum (Łódź, Kraków, Poznań, Warsaw, Wrocław) and the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam). He collaborates with the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw, the Wetering Galerie in Amsterdam, and the Galerie Hans Strelow in Düsseldorf.
