Postage stamps associated with "Solidarity" were of great importance in the 1980s, especially during martial law.
They were issued by the underground structures of the opposition movement and served several roles - as a form of propaganda, financial support for the activities of "Solidarity" and a symbol of resistance to the communist authorities.
Since the official post office did not serve the opposition, a so-called "underground post office" was established to distribute these stamps. They were often sold as "bric-a-brac" - a way to raise funds for underground activities. Their uniqueness makes them a valuable collector's item today and a testimony of those times.
