Anna Kostenko (born 1975 in Kyiv) - painter with Ukrainian roots, living and working in Cracow since 1991. Graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where she studied in the studios of Prof. Jan Szancenbach and Prof. Slawomir Karpowicz. She defended her diploma with distinction in 1998, presenting it during her first individual exhibition at the Palace of Art of TPSP in Cracow.
Anna Kostenko's work focuses on portraiture, the human figure and landscape, with a strong emphasis on cultural diversity and identity. Her style combines elements of expressionism and realism, operating with intense color, contrast and deformation of form. She paints mainly in oil and acrylic techniques, often in conceptual series - such as Faces of Humanity, Nosotros and #LostFuture.
The artist has had more than 25 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Between 1999 and 2019, she was represented by Jorgensen Fine Art gallery in Dublin and London. She has also exhibited at renowned galleries, including Opera Gallery (Paris, Singapore), Albemarle Gallery (London), Schloss Galerie (Germany), Tryptych Art (Kyiv), and in Poland at Szokart Gallery, Attis Gallery, Polswiss Art Auction House, Desa Unicum, among others.
Her works are in private and public collections around the world - including the Turner Foundation (UK), Royal Academy of Arts (Dublin), Trinity College Dublin, as well as in the collections of UNICEF, Ethnovision and numerous collections in Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa.
