This is an occult and natural history guide from 1790 by a Prussian forester, first published in 1790, referencing the famous medieval philosopher St. Albert the Great (Albertus Magnus) and drawing on the tradition of magical literature (the so-called Volksbücher), attributing to Albert alleged “secrets of nature and art” and referencing folk spells. The work contains hundreds of magical recipes, instructions, and advice on herbalism, hunting, crafts, and agriculture intended for the common people.
This famous guidebook, read to the point of wear and tear, was also very popular in handwritten copies until the end of the 19th century
